Audience: suport workers, employment consultants, disablity workers, aged care workers, any oen working with vulnerable communities, any member of the public, carers of people with vulnerabilities.


Managing Trauma and Vicarious Trauma
This presentation/talk will look at evidence-based support a non-clinician can provide to a participant, client, or member of the public in the event that a person is experiencing signs of direct trauma or vicarious trauma.

This presentation does not address clinical processes or therapy of any kind. The presentation draws on the evidence base from the model of mental health first aid.

In the talk we will address:

• Facts about trauma and traumatic events
• How to assess someone's wellbeing after a traumatic event
• How to assist someone after a traumatic event
• Signs and symptoms of someone impacted by a trauma or a vicarious trauma
• How we can support someone in a crisis or support someone to find the right assistance.

This module goes for approximately 80 minutes
